This Ghana-based state-owned entity needed a technically sound and highly inclusive evaluation across roughly 250 roles, including two employee unions. We ran a 20-member committee process over two to three weeks, consolidated outcomes into a formal job grid, and secured board approval.

Context

This Ghana-based state-owned entity needed to evaluate a substantial number of roles across the organisation. Given the nature of the institution, the project required not only a technically sound process, but a highly inclusive approach that would create understanding and confidence across the business, including with employee unions.

Business challenge

The organisation needed to evaluate around 250 positions and arrive at a grading outcome credible enough to secure board approval. Operating across multiple locations, it was important to create awareness broadly. Two employee unions were involved in the committee structure, making stakeholder management, transparency, and process credibility especially important.

Our approach

We travelled to Ghana and delivered the project over approximately two weeks. The process began with awareness sessions for employees across multiple locations. The core evaluation work was carried out with a committee of around 20 members, including representation from two employee unions, over two to three weeks. The committee-based approach helped strengthen transparency, support dialogue, and build confidence. Following evaluation, the outcomes were consolidated into a formal job grid and taken through board approval.

Outcome

Successful evaluation of around 250 positions, a formal job grid approved by the board, strong stakeholder buy-in through union participation and broad employee engagement, and ongoing annual use of the methodology through a licence, allowing the organisation to continue grading independently.
